shakespeareWhat Is a Sonnet?

A sonnet is a poem that consists of 14 lines, follows a specific rhyming pattern, and each line should consist of ten syllables.

The 14 lines of a sonnet can be broken down into three quatrains and an ending couplet (two rhyming lines).

Part 1 – quatrain

  • These four lines should establish the subject of the poem.

  • These four lines should state the theme of the poem.
  • The rhyming pattern for these four lines is CDCD.

Part 3 – quatrain

  • Lines 9-12 make up the first quatrain. (4 lines)
  • These four lines should support the theme of the poem.
  • The rhyming pattern for these four lines is EFEF.

Part 4 – couplet

  • Lines 13 and 14 are a rhyming couplet (2 lines)
  • These last two lines conclude the poem.

  1. I’m here to tell you about a great guy
His full name is called Justin Drew Bieber
He is something that you cannot deny
You’ll most likely to get Bieber Fever

Did I mention about his awesome hair?
It’s a miracle when he does the flip
Justin has the looks that I cannot bare
Please, he should share some of his beauty tips

Justin Bieber is also very swag
And also has a great, big, caring heart
He is proud of the Canadian flag
And would never let his fans break apart

You can see what a great young man he is
Not only, but the handsome look of his

  2. Fear

The Fear is a barrier to break through
It’s hard, tough, and only brave people will
However, there is a quite good side too
Like when your mums dying, that type of thrill

There was a ramp I wanted to go down
But the fear takes over me and stops me
So I don’t go down and leave with a frown
And I go home to meet my family

I dreamed that I could ride the ramp in bed
Although I woke up and it wasn’t true
“I’m going to do it,” I bravely said
Then I did it, and my bravery grew.

The Fear is a barrier to break through
I know you guys can also do it too

  3. Fear

A creepy feeling crawls up my cold neck
Dark and confusion fall like boulders
Damaging the inside, leaving a wreck
Voices of the night tickle my shoulders

Always I see light as distorted, bent
My vision is hazy for nothing is right
Escaping the fear, the time that I spent,
Controlling myself, I have lost the fight

Stuck in this universe of twisted dreams
    Becoming someone else, insanity
My own self, slowly ripping at the seams
I can’t feel the faith of humanity

This fear plagues me as I try to escape
I’m crawling away, before it’s too late

  4. Sonnet for EQ4

Sometimes even the greatest empires fall
They regress, and gradually fade and die
No matter how strong, no matter how tall
But how does this happen and also, why?

Crops could be destroyed by a massive flood
Your king could be either corrupt or meek
There could be a war that kills and sheds blood
Or some bandits stop trade for a full week

When respect for a god turns into hate
When plagues make the society crumble
When enemies break through the castle gate
That’s when kingdoms fall down with a rumble

An empire sometimes thrives and progresses
But when bad things happen, it regresses

  5. The Power of Fear (EQ1)

It washes over you, like a huge wave
    Unstoppable and undeniable
In that moment, you struggle not to cave
Now, nothing to you is reliable

This is fear, it can do wonders to you
It can make you do the unthinkable
For fear, there is nothing that seems so new
With fear’s help, nothing is unsinkable

This is what makes you lie awake at night
    Feeling vulnerable, shivering and cold
Wondering at this hour, what could bite
Incurable and not to be consoled

    Once you finally overcome this
It is an everlasting realm of bliss

  6. Fear-EQ1

    A nullifying shadow creeping near
A freezing chill jolting from head to toe
    People shake from imaginary fears
A demon waiting to unleash the foe

    I stand rigid, a path out I can’t find
Nightmares plague my dreams, sleep nowhere in sight
There’re no solutions I can see; I’m blind
The key to the lock is buried in fright

I just need a beacon to guide me out
But all hope has deserted, no one’s there
In my head there’s really nothing but doubt
Closing my eyes, I see a monster’s glare

The only thing I hope will become true
Is that the fear will never get to you

    😀

  7. Fear

Fear rips apart your body, soul and mind
It makes cities fall and crumble to dust
Fear wraps around your mind and makes you blind
It makes you insane, drives out your lust

Fear makes you do things you don’t want to do
You might run away, you might go and hide
Friends are in fear, you don’t have to be too
Keep trying to fight, don’t say you complied

Fear can be compelling, making you meek
It can crumble willpower, expel just
Fear can make your legs tremble, make you weak
Then when you need help, you will find no trust

Fear is one of the most powerful things
People have no idea, the things it brings

  8. Sonnets

A sonnet is a difficult poem
i think they are really weird
    Sonnets are anything but awesome
    Sonnets makes things unclear

I do not like writing a sonnet
    It causes me severe pain
But I must, for it is an assignment
It hurts like pure acid rain

    This poem is awful
    And I must do more
    This poem is fatal
These poems as ugly as a bore

Why King Cole must you do this to me
Now I must sit on my bed while I cry and plee

  9. Chocolate

You live in a wrapper amongst gold signs
    A hazel and tasty delicacy
Always and constantly dressed to the nines
    Among candies you’ll win presidency

    M&M’s, Snickers, Milky Way, Hershey’s
Nearly everyone in the world loves you
With tasting superb you have expertise
With you, one can make both cake and fondue

Some weird stranger purchases your brother
You watch as he is greedily devoured
The same fate for you is getting closer
Another stranger comes who can afford

Your pretty golden jacket is pried off
And that’s the start of your new life’s takeoff

  10. Black Death

Oh, the deadly disease begins to spread,
No one is around, they all have escaped,
In a great danger, they must move ahead,
With bruises and spoils, all dead without shape.

The fear of death swepted across the land,
Trusting it is punishment of the god.
Sorry, but your life is not in god’s hand,
Blame the fleas, to you this fact might be odd.

From fleas to mice, leading to great death,
They have finally stopped their giant move.
In the town, you can only hear your breath.
Now there is a big mystery to prove.

The journey of fleas ended like a story,
    “Hooray!” Everyone shouted for glory.

(I am not sure if this is related to EQ#1 :O )

    Gabba Gabba Hey

    The Joys of Spring

Young spring is here and what a lovely time,
The sweet smell of blossoms pervades the air.
In my garden I plant basil and thyme,
And young saplings and flowers with great care.

Oh how everyone seems so young and sweet,
All laughing and singing around and ’round.
Together everyone runs in a fleet,
Picking bright flowers and forward we bound.

When spring is here, let us all enjoy it!
So that we may all stay pleasant and fun.
For there is no way that we must acquit,
So let’s lounge and relax under the sun.

    Spring is rejuvenating and pleasant,
So come outside since it’s a great present!

  12. Sonnet
    Fear

Something big atmosphere cover my body
Something I can’t understand around me
When I felt this feeling I was so angry
I think I can stop this even barely

I don’t know about this weird motion now
How can I stop this awful dread from me?
This fear doesn’t go away so I wont allow
I never feel and experience this fear chiefly

Are there any fears like these I experienced?
Are there any solutions that I can solve?
I can’t stay at high places this is my instanced
I hope my big fear, dread and horror dissolve

However I will go to Yellow Mountain
I will get over my fear in Yellow Mountain

  13. A sonnet

The floorboards are creaking beneath my feet.
I see shadows lurking all around me.
Someone, staring at me, is on the street.
Not a person walking around with glee.

Now, I had no clue what was going on.
I could not see a thing, the sky was dark.
But, I thought I woke up, wasn’t it dawn.
A flash, someone had created a spark.

Then, a gust of wind came right towards me.
Someone, tried to keep the spark from lighting.
I am going to bolt out; one, two, three!
The door is locked, this is not exciting.

At that point I was full of dreadful fear.
I open my eyes, but no one was near.

  14. Fear (Revised)

It can crumble willpower, make life unjust
Fear can make your legs tremble, make you weak
Then when you need help, you will find no trust

Fear is one of the most powerful things
People have no idea, the things it brings

  15. The king rules all the land but he will need help
The peasants grow and harvest all the food
The knights protect the people when they yelp
The lords cheer him when he’s in a bad mood

The surfs give money and food to the knight
And up it goes until it reached the king
He looks at his gold that shine in the light
And the surfs will always sing while working

The king has the most money and land
But all the surfs has a lot of freedom
All the surfs grow the land by their hands
And the surfs work all day in the kingdom

To make our lives better and grow our meals
So we can live and save all the seals here

sorry but i couldn’t think of anything better 🙂

  16. Title: Justin Biebr the Singer

There once was a singer named Justin B.
He usually likes to spread his fever
People noticed him, so Justin said “Weeeeeee!!!”
He replied to them by proving his coolness

But instead because of his big, high voice
People now call him “Homosexual Boy”
Justin B. shouts with distress “Give me a choice!”
People laughed at him, happiness and joy

Recently he made a song called “Boyfriend”
    Fortunately people listened to it.
    Obviously, people didn’t like it.
Well, at least Justin Bieber has good friendship

    Justin Bieber finally hits puberty
That means he better deserve a party

  17. The End

Countries destroyed, cities and towns razed
Human beings will die, and countries will fall
The greatest man shall perish, empires died
Even the strongest replies to end’s call

Largest empire failed, by corrupt and civil war
People betrays, corrupts and the country dies
Invasions destroy from out, from far
The king shall become amoral and lies

    Natural disasters, floods and volcanoes
People die from disease like the Black Death
People die from their enemies and foes
That’s when it’s over with country’s last breath

No matter how grand or strong the empire
It shall unavoidably fall under fire

  18. The last thing you remember is a tiny leaf bud
THough now, You cannot see a single thing that ahead
The room is dark, and smells of blood
So you close you’re eyes tight, and hope you’re dead

You find enough strength, to open your eyes
sit up and shudder, see something you’ll rue
For in front of you is the thing you despise
A book of your fears, and all that are true

You silently flip through them, ignoring the times
Not noticing as a chain is slowly forming on your wrists
though as you read you, you read through your crimes
The chains begin to tighten and tighten and twists

for now your Bound, to serve as fear pleases
And as for this particular lock, there are no keys

BLAH (times = crimes I couldnt think of anything….) Blahhh

  19. The one I loved

You were the only one I strongly loved,
I trusted you like no one else had ever,
I thought I had you, but I got unloved.
Now I am finally lost forever.

You have unraveled my never-ending life story,
Forever I had wished I wasn’t so sad,
But nothing had its former glory.
Everything had once run horribly bad.

I wish I were you, still cruising along,
I am not you, thus I have to accept the truth,
We’re never ever going to get back along,
And ever again set up a school science fair booth.

I wish I could see you before I die of pain,
But I guess that’s unusually plain.

Sorry for the late time, but I couldn’t think of anything.

  20. Money

Paper or coin, any shape it will come
Used all around the world for goods and trades
Plentiful for few but scarce for some
Yet used most for cars and designer shades
It’s not the same as smoking or drinking
But can take over all you are feeling
It will become all that you are thinking
It lures you to drug dealing and stealing
Life will be a blur as you get more dough
Taken by a bottomless pit of want
It will come so that you cannot say no
Whatever you have there’s more that will taunt
It’s not recognized as an addiction
But desire can become an affliction

  21. Pies

Have your ever had a delicious pie
So good that when you eat it you will drool
If you have never had a pie oh my
Had a pie and don’t like it you’re a fool

If you think its a apple pie its not
Pies made of meat are very delicious
Also Shepard pies are good out of pots
Have a meat pie its very nutritious

But it may be hard to find the pastry
It may not be in your local dairy
You find the pastry it will be tasty
You will not find it with tom and jerry

Eat this tasty pie is in the summer time
Eat this pie in the winter, its a crime

  22. The king is on top, others are below.
He governs the whole entire nation,
He is protected by some knights although,
His category has a good ration.

The fine nobles are second in command,
They are sometimes related to the king,
Nobles hire knights that protect their land,
They’re high fashion and wear a lot of bling.

Thirdly are the knights who protect and guard,
They have manors and they run the places,
Lastly are the serfs, which work very hard,
Many wrinkles and scars mar their faces,

These are the levels of the pyramid,
And don’t worry, this was not pirated.

  23. Brandon 2nd poem (well technically 3rd):

    The addiction of games

The urge is strong; you know it’s wrong, but still
What could go wrong with a few games of COD?
Well, you might get some awesome streak kills, but still
I could list a whole list, but it’s too broad.

An addiction is a bad habit, but what?
Will it kill you? Will it make you half dead?
If only that you turned into a mutt.
Now all you’ll do is play COD in bed.

I know I sound like I’m raging like hell,
But there is no better warning for you.
For you don’t want to fall into trouble.
You were once me and I was once you.

I once had played COD like you all do now,
But I got rid of it unlike you now.

  24. I am alone with nobody around
I watch for something to show up outside
I maybe alone but not safe and sound
But I sat there waiting on the curbside

I feel like the world has come to an end
It feels as though I am dead in this world
I have nothing left not even a friend
I sit there in my box lonely and furled

This place is hot like the sun, and horrid
This place is anything it is to be
This place burns like hydrochloric acid
This place is death like a night lock berry

This place is scary and makes me feel dead
I do not know what is to come of me
It makes me feel scared of the path ahead
What else should I do but to just agree

Here alone nobody to aid my needs
There is nothing to do, but to concede

  25. Your friends

You hear your friends laughing in the distance,
You walk away deeply hurt as you always did,
But this time, your friend comes in assistance,
It was a joke and not mean what it did.

You hear your friends walk away from you very slowly,
But this time, you know why they are walking away,
And are now millions of tons more than ever jolly.
You decide to drink lots of milk with chocolate whey.

You hear your friends laugh and have lots of fun,
While you’re the odd one out like a boar,
“Join us,” they said. “It will be fun.”
So I did, and had great times like never before.

You hear your friends talk about you behind your back,
Now they never invite you no more, for he knows,
You won’t join their group without an attack.
And now trees move loudly while the wind blows.

The sounds of nature are unimaginable things,
Too bad I don’t have a good friend who sings.

  26. Your friends (Revised newest)

“It will be very very fun.”

  27. Fear is something that washes over you,
Leaving cold chills in your spine and your mind.
Your mind will feel as if it had turned blue,
Making your common sense go wildly blind.

Fear never feels at all oblivious.
The feeling of fear is terrifying.
It will never be less than obvious,
Just like hearing “Baby” playing in Carrefour.

Fear can strike through the hearts of many men,
    Bringing down entire civilizations.
Filling your mind every now and then,
In the mind it forever stations.

But fear is one of the reasons we live
Also one of the reasons why we thrive.

  28. I am but a mere foreign outsi(m)der,
but as I went to Rome, i meet some men,
and hard-working childs, and women, mind her.
And the mighty king, some soldiers, about ten.

I see a noble, proud and much mighty,

  29. In the crooked kitchen stood a dumb mouse
Who had really big brown spots on it’s back
Who wants a mouse in their really big house?
Intelligence is what it seems to lack
In the crooked bathroom stood a dumb rat
Looking for something in the room to loot
Don’t try to beat it with a baseball bat
Let’s hope he doesn’t try to eat your boot
In the crooked bedroom stood a round lion
He really likes to naw on someone’s meat
Lets all hope he doesn’t want you dyin’.
Humans and animals is what he eats
In the crooked house stood many dumb things
Stupid songs are what they dare do not sing

  30. Fear tortures and affects people’s actions
They do dangerous, desperate, rash things
    Which, resulting in malicious factions
Like a sad, infected child to hope clings
Are looking around for help and support
Deliver us, please sir, and please give us help
Wants and wishes and dreams fear does contort
Next generation shatters with a yelp
With tearing fear, identities are scarred
    Famine rages, sickness is abundant
With terrible evil, minds are marred
Although some say, fear is not redundant
If the world lived in peace, all would be calm
Only if fear would offer up its palm

  31. Essential Question #2

    I am but a mere foreign outsi(m)der,
but as I went to Rome, i meet some men,
and hard-working childs, and women, mind her,
And the mighty king, some soldiers, about ten.

I see a noble, proud and much mighty,
Ordering her servants to fetch her food.
They would not dare disobey the mighty,
For she is their mistress, indeed she should.

I see a knight, with valor, bravery,
Fighting for his king, protecting the slaves.
    In exchange for eternal slavery,
So because of it, freedom they don’t crave.

I see a serf, working hard in the fields,
They have tiredness, with no way to be healed.

  32. Me

M-eat is animal flesh that is eaten as food.[1] Most often, this means the skeletal muscle and associated fat and other tissues, but it may also describe other edible tissues such as organs and offal.[1] In commerce, meat is generally used by the meat packing industry in a more restrictive sense—the flesh of mammalian species (pigs, cattle, lambs, etc.) raised and prepared for human consumption, to the exclusion of fish, poultry, and other animals
E-verything I just said was about meat, sorry feathers are one of the epidermal growths that form the distinctive outer covering, or plumage, on birds and some non-avian theropod dinosaurs. They are considered the most complex integumentary structures found in vertebrates,[1][2] and indeed a premier example of a complex evolutionary novelty

  33. CCB

    Perkin, the goat boy.

Extra wise and smart.

Really wants to become a scholar.

Kind to Catherine.

    Is disabled for life.

    Never gives up.

  34. The Black Plague was a tragedy indeed
1/3 of the people had died that year
Everyone was full of scary unease
So all of Europe was filled with fear

Whole families were killed without mercy
Blacksmiths and Tailors wiped without a care
As the roads were devoid and free
From the road which was once devoid of scare

Dead piled up in the front of the church
As priest, after more priests prayed for there souls
Then fire were made with grass and wood of birch
Then their ashes collected in bowls

This was the story of the one black plague
That still scares the face of Europe today

  35. A dark shadow encloses around me,
That dank and creepy endless thought of fear,
I have run and nearly broken my knee,
And in pain I sit with a mug of beer,

I drink and drink until my sorrows’ gone,
I lit a fire and sat heating up my toes,
I dream of magical sparkling faun,
Away, away, now and far, far off my fear goes,

A clatter of sounds in darkness behind,
The shiver has come, now yet again,
And now I see ghouls and ghosts in my mind,
All my attempts to fight it off in vain,

Fears is endless on a war path endlessly,
    And we soldier on fowardrestlessly.

  36. Catherine

Locked in her chamber, bird in a cage
Stubborn as a mad mule, fierce like a cat
Causing her father to blow up in rage
“No I won’t marry, go away you rat!”

Thinking of plans, an escape, a way out
Giving them a try, but somehow they fail
Running out of time, she screams and shout
“What can I do, I am stuck in this jail!”

But she finally escaped from her home
She runs to her beloved uncle’s house
Then realizes she’s buried under foam
“How can I ever flee my house and spouse?”

“I can’t run away, never will I flee
For I am Catherine, and I am me”

  37. EQ4- sonnet
    Antonia
    table 1

    Buddhist, jewish, catholic, muslim, christian
Those words have changed everyones life for good
    People dying needlessly despite wisdom
    But many people have misunderstood

    Terrorists killing people for nothing
But somehow brought us closer together
Sometimes we do things without discussing
And that can kill people altogether

Sometimes we feel bad for the things we did
And apologize for our big mistakes
But then terrorists will go and kill kids
We will wait for however long it takes

We want people in the world to be safe
And everyone should have a little faith

  38. EQ2 – Sonnet

Why is there so much fighting in this life?
Is here one day, and gone the next?
Blood spilling all over a hunting knife,
Others think that they are better than the rest.

Why must we always want more than we need?
Getting what we want, then wanting something new,
Our minds taken over with greed,
Like you have been taken over by the stomach flu.

Why does fighting always end in sadness?
    Innocent people losing their souls,
Is it because the fighting is madness?
Or is it because people are making new goals?

So we need to stop the fighting now,
The only problem is, I don’t know how.

    End of the year

Like a TV show it is almost over.
Like a new game about to come out, it is almost hear.
It is almost over, like a delivered land rover.
Like the final countdown, the end of school is near.

    It is going on vacation.
It’s the perfect time to have fun.
    It’s a great sensation.
There are lots of things that can be done.

There are a lot of things you can do.
Go to an amusement park, ride in a go carts.
There are a lot of things that are true.
There are lots of things you can start.

So I can’t wait for the end of the year.
Because it’s something we should all put in high gear.
