Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year at SAS Pudong Middle School. I’d like to introduce myself as your child’s advisory teacher for the year. In the role of advisor, I hope to build a sense of community and to get to know your child well enough to support them with academic and life decisions. In addition I am here to facilitate communication between you and school.
Your child will check in with me for the first five minutes of each morning for attendance, announcements, and a quick check-in to their well-being. In addition, advisory classes will be held every other day for 45 minutes at the end of the day. In these classes we are dedicated to:
• Helping students adjust to school
• Building community among students
• Academic advising and coaching
The seventh grade team uses many methods of communication including phone, email, blogs, wikispaces, etc. Email is probably the most efficient method for questions and issues, and we will try to respond within 24 hours. Everyday information like upcoming events, course updates, and homework can be found on individual teacher blogs. In order to make the process more efficient for you, we have established a seventh grade blog with links to each individual teacher’s blog. On each teacher’s blog you will find things like course syllabus, homework posts, and a window into the classroom.
I look forward to partnering with you to support your child in a successful 7th grade school year. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me or any of the other seventh grade teachers.
