Analyzing Characters from The Outsiders

  1. Round – possessing a full range of human traits
  2. Flat – one-sided; human, but lacking a full range of human traits.
  3. Stereotype – a cardboard character who funtions without displaying motivation or emotional response

First: Choose 10 characters from The Outsiders. Using A3 paper, make a character map showing how the characters are linked to Ponyboy. Label each circle or box with the character’s name, and list them as either round, flat, or stereotype, then describe why. Second: Choose 1 character from your list and create a character pyramid describing them in detail.
